VISIT TO MIB FROM THE EUROPEAN MACHINE TOOL MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION

Filip Geerts, General Manager of the European Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (CECIMO), came to Turkey and visited the Machinery Manufacturers Association (MIB). During the meetings, economic and commercial relations with the EU were discussed in the context of the machinery sector, while the difficulties experienced by member companies in obtaining visas and China’s unfair competition in the markets were highlighted. In addition, the global rise of the Turkish machinery industry was also underlined during the meetings. Geerts said that Turkey is the 6th largest country within CECIMO.

The Machinery Manufacturers Association (MİB), which has been operating in the entire machinery sector since 1990 to protect the interests of domestic machinery manufacturers and support domestic machinery production, continues its efforts for the development of the machinery industry.

In the meetings attended by MİB Board Member Fatih İğrek and MİB Secretary General Zülfikar Kılıç, the problems experienced by the Turkish machinery industry in global markets, solution suggestions and the global upward momentum were emphasized.

Problems experienced by member companies in obtaining 
visas transferred

At the meeting, Geerts was informed about the activities of MIB, and views were exchanged on the unfair competition of the People’s Republic of China.

In addition, while the difficulties experienced by MIB member companies in obtaining visas were conveyed, it was requested that this issue be brought to the agenda before the EU Commission.

During the meetings, which were extremely productive, economic and commercial relations with the EU were discussed in the context of the machinery sector, and it was agreed that cooperation and CECİMO reports and statistics would be made available exclusively to MIB members.

Request for a private sector delegation visit to Bursa

During the meetings, the issue of organizing a private sector delegation visit to Bursa by CECIMO was also brought to the agenda, and it was decided to submit this request to the CECIMO board of directors meeting.
