The joint venture aims to develop and sell off-highway electromechanical actuators for the global market.
The new joint venture will market its product portfolio independently and will be headquartered in Shanghai.
Bosch Rexroth and Xi’an IF Intelligent Equipment plan to join forces in the development and sale of electromechanical actuators (EMAs) for off-highway vehicles for the global market. Bosch Rexroth, a leading supplier of automation and drive technologies, has been operating in China since 1978. Xi’an IF Intelligent Equipment is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xi’an Huaou Transmission, established in 2001, specializing in ball screws and also manufacturing electromechanical axes.
The agreement for the joint venture, to be established under the industrial leadership of Bosch Rexroth, was signed in Xi’an on January 26, 2026. The establishment of the joint venture is subject to approval by various international competition (antitrust) authorities and other relevant state institutions in China.
Bosch Rexroth CEO Dr. Steffen Haack commented on the matter: “The Chinese market for electromechanical actuators for off-highway vehicles is rapidly developing and has high potential for growth worldwide. We want to win in this market from the outset. To do this, we need rapid product development at sustainably competitive costs. Combining our technical and sales expertise in the field of electromechanical axes will provide significant benefits for both our customers and our companies.”
Xi’an IF Intelligent Equipment Chairman Fan Yandu stated that the company has demonstrated its high technical expertise in ball screws, a key component of electromechanical actuators, and added: “This collaboration is not only a strategic partnership between the two companies, but also a clear commitment to meeting the needs of today’s customers. The newly established joint venture will focus on the development, implementation, and final assembly of electromechanical actuators; it will develop its own EMA product lines consisting of components such as motors, motor control systems, and linear drives. Target sectors include construction, agricultural, and mining machinery, as well as material handling equipment. The joint venture will establish its own sales team and be responsible for domestic sales. For international sales, Bosch Rexroth’s global sales channels will be used. The joint venture will be headquartered in Shanghai, with manufacturing operations taking place in Xi’an.
