Women's Employment Shapes the Future of Turkish Industry

Döktaş, a Güriş Industrial Group company and owner of Turkey’s largest casting plant, has taken another significant step in the sector with a project aimed at increasing female employment in operational production processes. Implemented at the Bursa/Orhangazi plant in August 2023, the initiative quickly yielded positive results and was expanded to the Döktaş Manisa Aluminum and Rim plants.

Today, a total of 45 female employees are actively working in the production area: 28 at Döktaş Orhangazi and 17 at Döktaş Manisa.

Sibel Demircan Taş, Human Resources Manager of Döktaş Dökümcülük Orhangazi Factory, a Güriş Industry Group company, made the following assessment of the project:

”There were some initial concerns; comments like, ‘This job is heavy industry, women will struggle.’ However, with proper work organization, ergonomic adjustments, and effective communication, it has become clear that women can be just as successful as men in the production field. Seeing our female employees working with confidence and pride in the field today is a source of great satisfaction for us. This project is not just an employment initiative; it is also a key component of Döktaş’s social responsibility and sustainability vision. The words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, “There is a path we can walk more confidently and correctly: By engaging the great Turkish woman in our work,” were one of the primary inspirations for our project,” said Sibel Demircan Taş. “Increasing women’s participation in the economy advances both our sector and society.”

Döktaş, a Güriş Industry Group company, aims to increase the number of female employees in the coming period, ensure they work in different areas of production, and set an example as a good practice model in the sector.
