ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, has joined the Dutch Defense and Security Industry Foundation (NIDV), which fosters collaboration between government, industry, and information institutions. With this move, ESET demonstrates that modern defense is inseparable from technology and that digital competence is a prerequisite for both military and societal security.
ESET’s participation falls within the NIDV Knowledge Provision Platform (NIVP), a platform where companies and institutions work together to strengthen digital resilience in the defense and security sector. Cybersecurity is not a secondary concern here; it underpins all domains, including land, air, space, sea, and IT.
As a global player, ESET offers unparalleled expertise with autonomous and on-site security solutions specifically designed to secure even air-gapped environments. These high-end systems are manufactured in Europe and seamlessly meet the defense sector’s need for sovereign and reliable technology.
European Knowledge and Experience on the Digital Front
Holding a large market share in Eastern Europe, ESET possesses in-depth knowledge of cyber threats on the digital front. What ESET has discovered:
Numerous wiper attacks during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,
Targeted attacks on power plants and critical infrastructure,
New malware variants as part of hybrid operations.
This operational experience makes ESET not just a technology provider, but also a knowledge partner providing strategic insights and intelligence.
The threats facing the Netherlands and Europe are no longer just physical. Hybrid operations, cyber espionage, and digital sabotage directly impact national security. Therefore, collaboration between government, industry, and information institutions is crucial. With ESET’s membership, the Dutch defense industry will gain direct access to European cybersecurity knowledge and technology, ensuring that innovation and protection go hand in hand.
Patrick Jonker, Head of Corporate Solutions at ESET Netherlands, said, “Digital threats are evolving rapidly, but our collective defense is also strengthened through such collaborations.”
”By bringing together technology, knowledge, and people, we can make Digital Europe safer,” he said. “Cyber is no longer a supporting area, but the core around which modern defense revolves. With our European roots, multi-layered security technology, and proven track record of detecting large-scale attacks, we bring a unique value to NIDV and the entire Dutch defense industry. We are determined to take on this responsibility within NIDV.”
ESET’s role in public-private partnerships
ESET actively participates in international initiatives such as the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC), the Europol Cyber Intelligence Extension Program (CIEP), and large-scale NATO exercises like Locked Shields. The company is now bringing this experience to the Dutch defense and security sector.
NEDS 2025
On November 20, 2025, NIDV will host the annual NEDS conference, where participants will present the latest innovations across all fields. ESET will be participating for the first time.
