Tamsan Compressor carries its 45-year success in the industry into the future with a significant partnership and strong steps...
tAn investor group led by Ömer Birgen acquired 90% of the shares of Ankara-based Tamsan Kompresör. This transaction was carried out through the 13th Venture Capital Investment Fund established within Neo Portföy, and included 15 different individual and institutional investors.
Ömer Birgen, sharing his assessment of the matter, said, “Tamsan’s position within its sector, the company’s growth potential, and the intensity of acquisitions in the sector intrigued us. We believed that by establishing a strong management team and injecting capital into the company, we could help Tamsan reach its potential, and so we made the investment decision.” Birgen continued, “With this share purchase and capital injection, Tamsan will continue its growth within a more corporate and sustainable structure. With this investment, we aim to further strengthen Tamsan’s strength, increase its recognition both domestically and internationally, and strengthen its market position. This investment is a good example of long-term capital inflows that help Turkish companies realize their growth potential in the global market.”
Birgen explained his goals: “Our primary motivation for investing in Tamsan is, naturally, to generate a good return together with our investors. To achieve this, we need to increase Tamsan’s value as a company. We aim to grow our turnover 3-4x in Euro terms within 4-6 years and improve our profit margin.” Tamsan partner and senior manager Emren Bekeç, whose comments were included in the statement, stated the following on the matter: “We aim to work harder and take Tamsan, founded by my late father 45 years ago, to even greater heights. Ensuring the sustainability of family businesses is equivalent to ensuring the sustainability of the Turkish economy. This capital injection will help us triple our current capacity, implement innovative production processes, and bring new, innovative products to market.”
Bekeç, stating that they are planning to expand their markets, said, “The steps we will take as the new management team are not tied to any particular region or country. Tamsan currently sells to nearby regions like Georgia, North Macedonia, and Iraq, and also sells compressors to the US, Venezuela, and Australia. We will analyze all markets and identify target countries. We will collaborate with strong local distributors in markets where we believe Tamsan will be successful.” Following the transfer, Gökhan Diriksoy assumed the role of CEO at Tamsan. The experienced executive was named one of Turkey’s 50 most successful CFOs in 2023. Gökhan Diriksoy previously served as CFO at major companies such as Vivense, Doğanay, and Tamek.
