The university preference results for Turkey’s future youth have been announced. According to data shared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), 5 out of 6 students who received full scores on the YKS 2025 exam chose engineering faculties, a change from previous years. Furthermore, the occupancy rate in engineering programs has exceeded 97%. Mümin Güler, President of the Mühendis Tek-Sen Energy Union, said, “The fact that YKS champions are choosing engineering programs is encouraging for our country’s future. We will raise our voices even louder and continue our struggle with even greater determination to ensure that future engineers who choose engineering programs, especially these young champions, do not experience the same problems we did.”
According to the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) results announced on Monday, August 25, 2025, five out of six students who received a perfect score of 500 chose engineering faculties. This demonstrates that Turkey’s youth are turning to engineering fields. Mümin Güler, President of the Mühendis Tek-Sen Energy Union, congratulated the young people who have demonstrated their determination to contribute to the country’s technological future and stated that they will now fight for them as well.

“We will continue our struggle to prevent our youth from being subjected to injustice.”
Mümin Güler, President of the Engineers Tek-Sen Energy Union, expressed pride in the fact that, unlike previous years, this year’s champions chose engineering departments over medical schools. Güler stated that the fact that 97% of engineering departments are filled, according to YÖK data, is crucial for the country’s future. He added, “As the Engineers Tek-Sen Energy Union, we will continue to raise our voices and fight for salaries and other rights to ensure that our champions and young people who choose engineering professions are not subjected to the wage and other injustices deemed appropriate to us.”
“Engineering is a cornerstone of Turkey’s future.”
Emphasizing that the engineering profession is a cornerstone of Turkey’s future, Güler said, “As public engineers and technical personnel, we implement projects that support the country’s development and prosperity in critical areas such as energy, infrastructure, technology, and innovation. However, we are deprived of the economic and social conditions we deserve. We will continue to fight until we are rewarded for our labor, working together with young people to build a stronger Turkey. As the Mühendis Tek-Sen ENERGY Union, we will continue to work with determination to elevate the reputation of the engineering profession, improve low-wage policies, and improve working conditions. The successes of our young people further strengthen our resolve to fight. In this context, we will raise our voices even louder to provide young people who choose engineering programs with the working conditions they deserve and to prevent them from disappointing them in the future.”
